Podcasts
Recently our EDTECH class was joined by Tim Cavey, the creator of the Teachers on Fire podcast. Mr. Carvey discussed his journey to creating a podcast and his platform from which he produces his content. I feel that Teachers on Fire is an authentic platform for the teaching profession. Mr. Carvey is not motivated from commercial means that often speak on casts in an attempt to drum up business. He avoids such guests allowing for a level of pure insight that may not be afforded one who caters to business agendas.
Podcasting is a platform for ideas. As such podcasts are a modern way of networking and diffusing knowledge and tactics in the hopes of bettering best practice. One need not agree with every word, but in a general sense sparring with ideology can be the crucible to real understanding and innovation. Podcasts allow for an arena that is conducive to mental hurly-burly and as such can positively affect one’s practice.
